Each year approximately 50,000 people attempt to reach the summit. On average 65% succeed. With the right preparation, the right route choice and enough acclimatisation time — it is achievable for almost anyone in good condition.

Zones & Areas
Each section of the park has its own character and best season.
Machame route (6–7 days)
The most popular route. Provides excellent acclimatisation thanks to the "climb high, sleep low" principle. Beautiful and varied landscapes. Suitable for people with basic fitness. Our recommendation for most climbers.
Lemosho route (7–8 days)
The most beautiful and quietest route. Fewer visitors, spectacular landscapes through the Shira Plateau. The longer duration provides better acclimatisation and a higher success rate. Ideal for those who want to see more and have a better chance of success.
Marangu route (5–6 days)
The "Coca-Cola route" — the only route with sleeping huts instead of tents. Shortest and cheapest option. Lower success rate due to less acclimatisation. Good for experienced mountain climbers who want the shortest way.
