Exclusive & tailor-made

Private Safari Tanzania

Your own vehicle. Your own guide. Your own pace. Your Tanzania.

What makes a private safari different?

On a group safari you are one of six or eight travellers in a vehicle. Your guide has attention for everyone. Times are fixed. The route too. That works fine for people who simply want to see Tanzania.

On a private safari the vehicle is yours. The guide is yours. The schedule is yours. If there is a leopard in a tree, you stay as long as you want. If you want to leave earlier tomorrow for the morning mist over the plains, you do. If you have questions about every tree and every track you see, you get answers.

Why choose private?

🚙

Your own 4x4 vehicle

You share the vehicle with nobody. No other travellers, no compromises about timing. The roof hatch is always open for you.

🧭

Your own local guide

Your guide is full-time available for you. Ask all the questions you want, stop as long as you like at a sleeping lion.

Your timetable

Want to leave at 5:30 for sunrise? Or prefer a lie-in and lunch in the park? You set the rhythm.

📸

Perfect photo opportunities

Wait as long as needed for the perfect shot. No group getting impatient. For the serious photographer, private is the only option.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

Ideal for families

With children you want to be flexible. Need a break? Return to the lodge. Found an exciting leopard? Stay as long as the children want.

🔒

Privacy & intimacy

No strangers in your vehicle. Ideal for couples, anniversaries, or anyone who simply doesn't want to chat with strangers on safari.

Private vs. Group Safari

We also offer group safaris. But for those who can, we always recommend private.

Experiences from private safari guests

"We had previously done a group safari in Kenya and wondered whether private was worth the money. Now we know: the difference is enormous. We could wait for hours at the cheetah with her cubs without anyone getting impatient. Our guide Collin knew exactly when to stop and when to drive on. Unforgettable."
Peter & Anna V.
8 days Serengeti & Ngorongoro
"With four children (ages 4 to 14), private was not really a choice — it was a necessity. Jonas perfectly adapted game drives to the energy of the youngest. When they were tired, we drove back. Had the older ones found a lion? Then we stayed as long as they wanted. A group safari could never have offered this."
Familie Hendriksen
10 days family trip with Zanzibar

"The difference between a group safari and a private safari is the difference between a sightseeing bus and your own car through Tuscany. Both are beautiful — but the freedom is of a different order. And once you have done private, you never go any other way."

Frequently asked questions about private safari

What does a private safari cost?+
A private safari costs more than a group safari, but the experience is fundamentally different. For a couple the price difference is relatively small and a comfortable 7-day private safari starts around €1,700 per person. We always create a tailor-made proposal based on your group, trip duration and desired accommodation.
Does the guide speak Dutch or German?+
Our guides speak English and Swahili. We can arrange Dutch or German-speaking guides, but availability is limited — mention this in your request. Most travellers choose an English-speaking guide.
Can I combine a private safari with a group section?+
Yes. Some travellers choose a private safari in the parks but take a group boat to Zanzibar or a budget lodge for overnight stays. We are happy to advise on the best combination for your budget.
How many people fit in the vehicle?+
A standard private Landcruiser has comfortable room for 4–6 passengers. Larger groups we can transport in two vehicles. The vehicle has a pop-up roof so everyone can stand and photograph at the same time.
Is a private safari also possible for one person?+
Yes. Solo travellers pay the full cost for the private vehicle and guide, making it more expensive than in a group. But many solo travellers find the freedom and personal attention from the guide worth it. We regularly have enthusiastic solo travellers.
What are the best parks for a private safari?+
The Serengeti is always the highlight — vast, diverse, and with a private vehicle you explore areas where group tourism goes less. Ngorongoro is compact and spectacular. Tarangire is ideal for elephant lovers and is less crowded. We always advise a combination of multiple parks.
