6

Wait approximately 14 days for your e-visa by email (usually faster)

7

What do you need?

  • Valid passport (minimum 6 months validity after return)
  • Biometric passport photo (JPEG format)
  • Flight confirmation (booking confirmation is sufficient)
  • First accommodation address in Tanzania
  • Credit card (Visa or Mastercard for e-visa payment)
  • Yellow fever certificate (if applicable)

"Apply the e-visa at least 2 weeks before departure. Do not wait until the last moment — processing can take longer than expected. With the e-visa you also skip the visa queue at the airport and go straight to passport control."

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a visa for Tanzania?+
Yes. Dutch, Belgian and German citizens require a visa for Tanzania. The e-visa is the easiest option: apply online, $50 per person, valid for 90 days.
Does the visa also apply to Zanzibar?+
Yes. Zanzibar is part of Tanzania — one visa is valid for the whole country, including Zanzibar.
How far in advance should I apply for the visa?+
Apply for the e-visa as soon as you have booked your flights. Processing takes approximately 14 days on average, but can take longer. Don't leave it until the last moment.
What if my passport is about to expire?+
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after your planned return date. Expiring sooner? Apply for a new passport at your local municipality first.
